Andrey Vladimirovich Efimov dies 28 February 2021, aged 82

Prof. Dr. Andrey Vladimirovich Efimov (1939–2021) We are profoundly saddened by the loss of the internationally renowned Russian colour designer and Honorary Member of the Study Group on Environmental Colour Design of the International Colour Association (AIC) in recognition of his seminal work as urban planer, colour designer, artist, and educator. In early December 2020 he participated in the Second Russian Color Conference in Smolensk, Russia.

Ulf Klarén dies 17 January 2021, aged 76

Ulf Klarén (1944–2021)

Ulf Klarén (1944–2021) was a researcher and lecturer on perception, colour and light. Until his retirement in 2011 he served as a senior lecturer and head of The Perception Studio at Konstfack, University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, Sweden.

We are very sad to inform you the passing of Lucia Ronchi Rositani. She was AIC Vice President (1990–1993) and following this she served the AIC as its first female president (1994–1997).

Antal Nemcsics dies 12 July 2019, aged 92

We will always remember his scientific work, his paintings, his contribution to the AIC. Antal Nemcsics was the founder of the AIC Study Group on Environmental Colour Design.

John Gage, Art Historian, dies February 10, 2012

We had the extraordinary opportunity and pleasure to meet John Gage at AIC 2009 in Sydney and listen to his invited lecture on "Evolution of Colour: even the bad times are good" and words cannot express the deep sorrow that I feel in learning of the passing of John Gage, a great art historian whose writings were essential for understanding colour and its many cultural and artistic expressions. Anders Hård, renowned colour researcher, dies aged 86

Anders Hård (1922-2009)

The Chair of the ECD Study Group is sad to announce that the Swedish colour researcher Anders Hård, who served as the first chairman of the AIC Study Group on Environmental Colour Design from 1982 to 1988, died on March 6th, 2009, aged 86. He was a remarkable person and pivotal figure.
